Why Vacation in Las Vegas?
Everyone should visit Las Vegas at least one. It is a perfect choice for vacation; there is plenty to see and do – from staying in lavish luxury resorts to embracing your inner adventurer and day-hinking the surrounding canyons.
Las Vegas is so much more than gambling and slot machines, though there are plenty of options for that activity as well. It is a great vacation destination!
Activities & Attractions
No visit to Las Vegas is complete without visiting a few resorts for over-the-top activities. From the opulence of the Bellagio and its fountain show and the Venetian with it’s indoor/outdoor gondola ride to the indulgence of Caesars Palace and the Mirage and the fun of Treasure Island, New York-New York, and Circus Circus, they all beckon you with more, bigger and better.
The Mob Museum
The Mob Museum offers visitors a peek back into time with artifacts from well-known mobsters Al Capone, Charlie Luciano, Meyer Lansky, Benjamin Siegel, Sam Giancana, Frank Rosenthal, Mickey Cohen and Tony Spilotro, among others.
Located in the heart of downtown Las Vegas on Stewart Avenue and Third Street (right by Main Street Station), the Museum is inside the former federal courthouse where the 1950-51 Kefauver Committee hearings were held. The Kefauver Committee investigation contributed to the national debate on organized crime that developed after World War II. The Mob Museum offers visitors an inside look at the impact of organized crime throughout America.
Hoover Dam
Take a drive outside of Vegas and discover the man-made marvel of Hoover Dam. The Dam is located 35 miles south of Las Vegas. Standing more than 725 feet above the Colorado River, Hoover Dam is the highest concrete dam in the entire Western Hemisphere. As one of the largest hydro-electric power plants, it produces 4 billion kilowatts of electricity a year.
Red Rock Canyon
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is approximately 20 miles from the Las Vegas strip. This amazing conservation area is also home to about 200 different mammals. On your visit you might see burros, rabbits, coyotes, bighorn sheep, red-tailed hawks, golden eagles, hummingbirds, bobcats and mountain lions.
The 13-mile scenic loop drive offers plenty of incredible photo opportunities and allows visitors to view the splendor of the canyon in an up close and personal way.
Golf
For the golf enthusiast, there is no shortage of golfing opportunities! Choose from over 50 courses to play -championship courses, traditional courses, even desert and municipal courses are on the golfers menu!
Shopping & Shows
Shows shows and more shows! There is a myriad of offerings for every taste in Vegas. From the high-flying, catch your breath every minute acrobatics of Cirque du Soleil to The Blue Man Group to Donny & Marie; from musicals like Jersey Boys to the magic of David Copperfield and Penn & Teller’s comedic magic, there is something for everyone in Las Vegas!
Shopping! There are so many options for shopping, that at the end of the day you will be exhausted from the whirlwind of shopping opportunities! The Venetian’s Grand Canal Shops, the LINQ Promenade, Caesar’s Palace, Via Bellagio, Wynn’s Esplanade, Meadows Mall and Showcase Mall….these are just a few of the many shopping experiences to be found in and around Las Vegas.
