Where to Eat in Elizabethton
The Coffee Company had me at first peek, and the coffee beckoned us back several times. Like many of the shops in downtown Elizabethton, The Coffee Company is located in a historic building. They kept the vintage look in the interior with vintage pieces, including an antique Freshidor, repurposed as a coffee bar.
The coffee captured both Jim and I, as we are coffee lovers. With no bitter aftertaste, the coffee is smooth and delicious, and not over-roasted. Don’t miss a meal – whether you stop in for breakfast or lunch, the food is fresh and delicious, and artfully prepared.
The Black Olive is fantastic, and is exactly what we look for when we eat out during our travels! The food is housemade and they use locally grown and organically sourced food as much as they can. The menu is not large, but every dish is tasty and well-presented.
Downtown Elizabethton is home to a variety of small locally owned shops; I’m sure you’ll find exactly what you didn’t know you had to have!
Johnson City
We fell in love with Johnson City! They have an adorable downtown that is great for strolling and window shopping. But we adored the food offerings in Johnson City. It is truly a gastronomic lovers paradise!
Where to Eat in Johnson City
Cafe Lola is a wine and martini bistro, and the food is amazing! We popped in for lunch and had their quiche of the day, which was sausage, mushroom and cheese. The crust blew me away – it was light and flaky, a perfect complement to the filling. I chose a Sauvignon Blanc to accompany my quiche, and it was the perfect pairing – even for a woman who loves red wine!
Cootie Browns is one of the most fun dining experiences we’ve had in a long time! The bright and colorful decor reflects the travels of fictional character Cootie Brown. Cootie’s fictional travels have taken him to Jamaica, Key West, Mexico, and beyond. You’ll find lots of interesting dining choices on Cootie’s menu, which led us to begin making up more fictional stories about Cootie’s many travels!
Of course, a visit to Johnson City requires a stay at the impeccable Carnenegie Hotel! This boutique hotel is a perfect setting for a romantic East Tennessee getaway. Snuggled in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, the hotel is a replica of their namesake “Carnegie Hotel” which opened in 1891 in Johnson City.
Filled with touches of burnished wood, modern amenities, and rich bedding the rooms are superior. A visit to their Austin Springs Spa is a must to unwind from your travels. One of our favorite things about the Carnegie? Their VID (Very Important Dog) attention to your four-legged travel companion!
