Our Favorite Food & Drink Recipes
Have you ever had a night when you know you have to cook, but you don’t want to think about what to cook? That’s where we can help! Our favorite food & drink recipes are simple, they are tasty, because who likes boring food? We’ve taken some old Southern favorites, and added a twist so they are fresh and good and your family will love them!
Need to entertain on the fly? No problem! We do that all the time. Jim will call from the golf course and say “honey, I invited a couple of folks over for dinner. Is that ok?” What do I do? I say of course! So I choose a bottle of wine (I’m not kidding when I say we have a wine collection y’all….’cuz you know, it’s wine!), pull out fish or steak (because we all know our freezers and refrigerators are stuffed with food now, because we’ve been home and not eating out), and then Jim does his magic.
Now that man can cook! He comes by it naturally – his dad was a chef, but the flavors that guy can pull out of simple food is just incredible! So I know you’ll be cooking up a storm with some of our favorite recipes.
As for me, I LOVE to bake! And when I get started, well, one recipe is not enough! I love quick, easy, and delicious desserts. I’m not one to spend a lot of time in the kitchen working on one recipe. That’s why my favorite recipes are tasty, quick and simple.
I’m not kidding y’all ~ last week we had friends visit and I made an orange rum cake, peanut butter cookies, and walnut brownies. I was in the kitchen all day long, but it was so worth it!
Now I’m not going to brag, but I will tell you this – people come knocking on our door asking if I have made my Citrus Rum Cake, and can they have a slice. It’s what I am known for in our neighborhood….well, that and wine (see, there I go again….must be 5 0’clock somewhere!)
Betsi grew up baking, but it was when she married Jim that her love of cooking was fostered. Jim is the son of a chef, so he grew up in the kitchen, and is adept at combining spices and flavors to create new dishes. This comes quite naturally for him, but not so for Betsi. Through trial and error, she has learned the art of subtle flavorings that bring out the best in food. She has now found her love of cooking and loves to entertain. Her motto is don’t be afraid to try new things ~ you might surprise yourself and create a new favorite dish! However – for those who are in the know, I will be just as likely to sit back and let Jim create ~ he’s a master!
